Judging from social media, people have really started to fall under the spell of body oils. This is with good reason. Body oils make a great complement to lotions and can give you that added seal of moisture you need. While body oil is pretty light-weight, it soaks into the upper layers of your skin instantly enhancing the appearance and moisture of your skin. Here are 4 reasons you should add a body oil to your skincare routine.

1. Aides the skin in retaining moisture.
Body oil helps to retain moisture into your skin for hours. It penetrates your skin's protective barrier helping the skin to maintain a soft and silky feel throughout the day. To get the most out of the added moisture, be sure to cleanse and exfoliate your skin before applying your body oil. Let the oil soak into your skin for 2-3 minutes before putting on your clothes.
2. Helps in fading bruises or marks.
Certain oils have properties that can help to repair and heal scars, reduce the appearance of stretch marks and cellulite, and soothe irritated skin. Look for rosehip oil for skin repair, lavender essential oil for calming therapeutic benefits, or geranium essential oil for body firming. 
3. A little goes a long way.
Contrary to lotion, a little oil can go a long way. Especially if applied to damp skin. A small amount of body oil can be enough to moisturize most of your body, whereas it can sometimes take several hefty pumps of body lotion to relieve your dry skin.
4. Some oils have relaxing properties.
There are a number of body oils that function to improve aspects of your mood. By using body oils, you can boost your level of relaxation and sense of emotional well-being. For example, body oils that contain rosemary help to strengthen alertness and jasmine body oil is known to increase your self-confidence. 

The best body oils include ingredients extracted from roots, fruits, flowers, and leaves and are free from mineral oils. In addition to the oils mentioned above, some of my favorite oils like avocado oil, cottonseed oil, and macadamia oil are amazing for achieving firmer, even toned, and soft skin.
